Hospitals post bed sore data
March 17, 2008
Massachusetts hospitals have revealed the rates of pressure ulcers their patients suffer during hospital stays as part of a series of statistics being made public by the Massachusetts Hospital Association on its Patients First website.
The information, posted on patientsfirstma.org, was gathered over a two-day period in March and September 2007 during full-body examinations of patients.
The hospital group took data from the state’s 80 acute care, rehabilitation and long-term acute hospitals and organized it by the units where patients were cared for, including intensive care, medical and surgical units.
The rates are compared with state averages for hospitals of similar size.
